Feyenoord’s KNVB Cup ended with a 3-0 loss to Heerenveen at Feyenoord’s attempt to win the KNVB Cup for the second year in succession floundered against Heerenveen at De Kuip. Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Diego Biseswar both threatened early but could not find the finishing touch. Trond Sollied’s squad took the lead with eight minutes left in the half as Viktor Elm scored on one their few opportunities. After the break, Heerenveen continued with its tight defensive approach but again Feyenoord couldn’t capitalize with Diego Biseswar, Luigi Bruins and Georginio Wijnaldum efforts to level the match not breaking through. Finally with seventeen minutes remaining Elm got his second of the match off a one-two with Roy Makaay. The match went to 3-0 when Arnor Smárason sent up Roy Makaay to finish with eight minutes remaining, eliminating Feyenoord from the Cup.
