Jonathan de Guzmán out for year
By: Jackson | January 5th, 2009Through the holiday season the hope for Feyenoord was the successful return of many of its injured players. That hope took a horrible turn today as they announced Jonathan de Guzmán is out for year for the year after surgical repair of his knee. The loss of the twenty-one year-old midfielder is a tough one to take for Gertjan Verbeek’s side.
For the record I am double-checking this story with the club and asking for additional details because for a meniscus repair, this is a very long recovery time. Borrowing upon an associate of mine in the sports medicine field, he confirmed this is obviously not a “plain vanilla” partial meniscectomy given it would mean nearly a five month recovery period. It is entirely possible that the extent of the injury wasn’t reported correctly and needs clarification.
